Gloria Gilmore was a resident of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Moving here in the 60’s with her parents and siblings. She graduated from the local high-school, John Harris, and attended Harrisburg Area Community College, taking courses in Business Administration.
Gloria worked for Giant Foods for over 48 years always learning and getting promotions along the way. She was a Store Accountant for over 20 plus years then entered the management program. She held the positions of Non-Perishable Manager, Perishable Manager, Customer Operations Manager and Assistant Store Manager. She worked at store and corporate levels. Gloria traveled extensively, helping to set up and open new locations.
Gloria was very active in her community serving as Vice president of the Blue Mountain Chapter of The American Businesswomen’s Association where she was honored as the chapter’s Woman of the Year. Gloria was a lifelong member of Mt Calvary COGIC and served on the Health and Wellness Auxiliary as well as being instrumental in helping the Missions team to partner with Midwest Food Bank to bring much needed food to our community.
Gloria was particularly proud to be President of the Board of Directors for Keystones Oral Histories, helping to bring to the forefront of history, information about African Americans that served in our various military branches and all of the Wars and conflicts, they served in.
Gloria had her own business and is a licensed representative. She worked as a financial coach, helping families reach their financial goals.
Gloria was married to the late Wayne Gilmore, who served in the Army as a Sargent and fought in the Vietnam War. Gloria and Wayne had two children, Michael and Trina, and 3 grandchildren.
